Owen Jones Sky Blue Star Flower Trellis Canvas Print
Star-shaped blossoms in fiery red and cream burst across a sky blue ground, connected by a lively green vine trellis dotted with small blue and pink buds, and grounded by a repeating arched border of red lotus forms along the base. This design draws directly on Owen Jones's studies of Chinese porcelain and enamelware ornament, where a bright turquoise or sky blue ground was frequently used as a jewel-like backdrop for saturated floral color, a palette choice he documented extensively when cataloguing Chinese decorative traditions. The distinct architectural border along the bottom edge, composed of stylized arches and lotus medallions, echoes the framing devices common to ceramic tile and textile panels, anchoring the looser floral scrollwork above with a formal decorative edge. Printed on canvas, the vivid sky blue against fiery red and green holds bright, saturated color and fine botanical detail, with a matte-like finish that keeps the jewel-toned palette feeling warm and vibrant. This piece suits chinoiserie, eclectic, or richly colorful traditional interiors, appealing to collectors of Owen Jones prints, sky blue floral wall art, star flower trellis decor, or vividly patterned canvas prints that bring lively historical color to a room.
