Owen Jones Lotus Seed Pod Medallion Canvas Print
A coral-pink lotus blossom with pointed, striped petals opens at the center to reveal a golden ring and a green seed pod studded with dark seeds, encircled by scalloped panels of deep blue scrollwork and small blue lotus blooms against a warm cream ground. This design draws on Owen Jones's documentation of botanically precise Chinese lotus motifs, where the seed pod at the flower's heart, rather than a stylized rosette, becomes the focal detail, reflecting a naturalist's attention to the plant's actual structure. The surrounding petal-shaped panels filled with fine spiral scrollwork demonstrate his interest in nesting one repeating micro-pattern inside a larger architectural frame, a layering technique he traced through ceramic and enamel border designs. Printed on canvas, the coral pink and golden center against deep blue holds precise linework and vivid color contrast, with a matte-like finish that keeps the cream ground feeling warm and luminous. This piece suits serene, botanical, or Asian-inspired interiors, appealing to collectors of Owen Jones prints, lotus medallion wall art, blue and coral floral decor, or intricately detailed canvas prints that bring meditative historical elegance to a room.
