Two Egrets Under Crescent Moon – Ohara Koson Wading Bird Art
A pair of white egrets stand together in shallow water beneath a slender crescent moon in this quietly intimate scene by Ohara Koson, framed by wind-swept reeds that sweep diagonally across the twilight sky. The composition draws its charm from subtle gesture: one egret tilts its head down toward the water while the other gazes outward, their long necks and slender legs rendered with graceful, fluid lines. Koson's soft gradient background — shifting from deep blue-grey at the top to a pale, misty grey near the water's edge — creates a hushed, atmospheric mood, while the crescent moon and windblown grasses add a fleeting, seasonal touch typical of *shin-hanga* nature studies. This artwork is available as a framed print with delicate linework, soft tonal shading, and a polished gallery-quality finish, ideal for bedrooms, reading nooks, spas, or serene Japanese-inspired interiors. It's a fitting piece for admirers of Koson's woodblock prints, egret and heron wall art, moonlit nature scenes, or tranquil shin-hanga imagery from early 20th-century Japan.
