Owen Jones Chinese Ornament Blue & White Framed Print
A repeating blue-and-white lattice of scrolling vines, lotus blossoms, and geometric borders divides into three tiered bands, each panel balancing dense cobalt patterning against open white ground for a crisp, symmetrical effect. This design comes from Owen Jones's studies of Chinese decorative art, part of "The Grammar of Ornament" series published in 1856, showcasing a catalogue of ornamental motifs derived from Chinese art and craftmanship. Conceived in a grid-like formation, the pattern exemplifies the intricate aesthetics inherent in Chinese ornamentation, with each individual pattern presenting a highly structured, symmetrical arrangement featuring recurring shapes and interlacing lines that reflect classic porcelain and textile motifs. Framed as a print, the deep indigo blue against crisp white holds sharp linear detail and even color saturation, with the frame lending an archival, gallery-ready presentation. This piece suits chinoiserie, traditional, or eclectic maximalist interiors, appealing to collectors of Owen Jones prints, Grammar of Ornament wall art, blue and white chinoiserie decor, or vintage pattern-book art that brings refined historical character to a room.
